Choosing a Location for your Photoshoot

I love helping clients with the location for their session! A lot of variables go into choosing the perfect spot.

Over the years I have become very familiar with locations in the Sioux Falls area. If we chat about a park, I usually know what time of day that it has the most flattering light. I’ll know which places around town have less bike traffic, mosquitos, muddy paths, or will have the tall grass, rocks, or water that you’re looking for.

Outfits can make a difference too, when it comes to choosing a spot. Some colors look better at certain locations than others.

I love communicating about your preferences for your specific photo session, and can help pick a great spot based on what you need!

  • Downtown

Would you prefer a look that’s not in nature? Downtown is a great option! There are quite a few textures for fun backdrops and unique options within walking distance of each other.

Downtown fits a lot of color schemes. It can work great for couples, families, or individuals.

  • Nature around Sioux Falls

City parks and State parks are wonderful places to take pictures at, and I have come to know many of them well.

If you have a certain vision in mind for your shoot, let me know and we can pick the right place!

  • Worth the Drive

There are a few places that I have been that may be a drive, but are so beautiful. If you really have something specific in mind for your photoshoot and you’re not quite sure how to execute it, let me know! We can brainstorm and see if there might be something that would work well.

A few places that I have been:

    - The Ice Castles in Minneapolis area
    - The Badlands
    - The Black Hills
    - Okaboji
